Hey guys, what's the haps? It's about time I gave anyone who still hangs around the DL with what's been going on in my life. Here's the highlights...

In June we spent a magical long weekend in Melbourne and fell in love..

...we fell in love with Smith Street Alimentari in Collingwood

...we fell in love with the art of expression in Fitzroy

...we fell in love all over again with Marty Scorsese

...Alex fell back in love with Chinotto, and introduced me to this new flavour

...we fell in love with the architecture and character of the city

...and its amazing eateries

....but most of all, the architecture and history. My god, how I've missed history.

We'll be back, Melbourne!

I think I may have posted work by Hannah Davis before? As I'm too lazy to dig through the archives, lets say I did because I know I have her collaborative blog Between Here and Mountains booked. The series Last Light, and Somewhere Around Here, remind me a lot of my own childhood spent exploring the forests around my home. This set via Booooooom!

As a Northern lass dropped into the Southern hemisphere, I often find myself torn between two polar opposites, now more so than ever. Easter is round the corner, and the internet's ablaze with Spring fashion and promises of long, lush evenings yet New Zealand is heading headlong into Autumn, and snow has dusted the mountains outside my window for the last couple of days. It's confusing me and pulling me in two directions, making me homesick for my parents' garden which really comes alive in the English summer.

SO here are some images of Iceland to put me in the right frame of mind - it never fails, Iceland seems to me a magical place where dreams come true and I desperately want to visit, but I'm ready to wait a while longer for the perfect time. Alex & I work different days, so apart from 4 days over the Christmas break, we haven't spent a full day together since October. So I was psyched last week to get a few days off, so that we could go gallivanting in Southland with Paola & Lucas. We were blessed with awesome weather, and had fun exploring the small seaside town. I took a few cameras with me (old manual Nikon, Holga, travel digital) but in the end it was my old faithful Canon EOS30D that I used the whole weekend. It was a joy to fall in love with it again, I hadn't picked this camera up in over a year!
